Lake District

With surprisingly good weather for May we planned a short break up to Ullswater, in the Lake District. The journey was just over 2 hours and quite enjoyable with the views from the motorway of the mountains and countryside.

We stayed at a huge campsite called Waterside Farm Camping, and it was definitely a farm in use. Plenty of cows and sheeps around, but you get used to the smell after a while!!! The facilities were pretty good and even had a mini shop-lucky for us as we forgot to bring a saucepan!!

It was a short 15 minute walk to the picturesque town of Pooley Bridge, where we could stop for a coffee/beer and stock up on food to cook back at the campsite. And from there you can catch the Ullswater Steam Boat that takes you to other locations on the lake. We chose to hike along the lake and then stop for lunch before getting the boat back.
